Her achievements when she was a teenager in America (which we call Maureen O'Hara today) would certainly put her in the child-prodigy category. However, for a child with Irish origin, and surrounded by gifted parents and family members, these were very natural traits. Maureen joined this wonderful refuge within Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th 1920. Marguerita FitzSimons' mother, Lilburn, was an contralto. Charles FitzSimons managed a Dublin-based business and owned a share in "The Shamrock Rovers," an eminent Irish soccer team. Maureen FitzSimons placed second from a group of 6 FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off the gorgeous family. Maureen did well in sports and enjoyed playing rough sports. Additionally she was gifted to act. This was demonstrated by her getting almost every Feis awards for drama and the stage that her country had to offer. When she turned 14, she was admitted to the prestigious Abbey Theater and pursued her goal of performing in classical theatre and operatic singing.
